You are responsible for each key issued to you. Residents are required to report lost keys to Residential Life staff during regular office hours, which run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Student Commons. Replacement keys are issued for all interior bedroom keys; however, all primary entrances use card swipe access based off a student’s LCN ID card. All replacement fees are added to the student’s account. Students who do not return their keys upon check out will receive the following charges on their student account. Key cards are issued upon academic year check-out and should be retained in the case of an incorrect charge.
Replacement/Lock Change Charges
$##.00 for bedroom keys
When a lock is being changed, the new key(s) will typically be available in the Residential Life office for pick up the morning after the lock is changed. Students must be present in person to get their replacement key. The student must present their LCN ID and their old key (if available) to receive the replacement key.
Students who lock themselves out of their rooms may request assistance from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Office of Residential and Student Life. Outside these hours a student must contact the Resident Assistant on duty at (309) 826-0500. If no one can be located, please call the LCN Security non-emergency line at (309) 531-7522.
All lockouts will be documented. A third lockout and any lockout thereafter will result in a $5 lockout fine per occurrence.
